TotalBoat Teak Oil is designed to restore, preserve, and protect the natural color and beauty of your wood. It can be used for interior or exterior applications and will not turn wood orange, black, or gray. Ideal for teak and other oily hardwoods such as mahogany.

Substrates

Designed for teak, but also suitable for other oily hardwoods.

Surface Preparation

• If teak has a gray appearance, clean using TotalBoat Teak Cleaner, then sand smooth with 220-grit sandpaper in direction of grain.
• Vacuum sanding dust and remove residue with tack cloth.
• Wipe with a clean, lint-free cotton rag dampened with denatured alcohol and allow to dry.
• If teak is in good condition (natural golden appearance), sand with 220-grit sandpaper.
• Remove dust and wipe with denatured alcohol as above.

Application

• Stir thoroughly before use.
• Apply by brush or wipe on with a clean, lint-free cotton rag.
• Allow 20–30 minutes for oil to penetrate.
• Wipe off excess with clean rag.
• Apply two coats for new wood, or one coat for maintenance.
• Allow 8–12 hours drying time between coats.
• Scuff lightly with Scotch-Brite™ pad before recoating to improve adhesion and penetration.

Maintenance

• Clean surface with boat soap and water.
• Maintenance schedule varies by environment.
• Reapply monthly or yearly as needed.
• Reapply when natural teak color begins to fade.

Warning

RAGS, STEEL WOOL, OR WASTE SOAKED WITH PAINT, TEAK OILS, OR SOLVENTS MAY SPONTANEOUSLY CATCH FIRE IF DISCARDED IMPROPERLY. IMMEDIATELY AFTER USE, PLACE IN A SEALED, WATER-FILLED METAL CONTAINER.
