TotalBoat Signature Wood Stain delivers consistent color and a lustrous finish across a range of classic tones—from Natural to Spanish Oak. This penetrating oil-based wood stain enhances the natural beauty of wood grain and is ideal for furniture, cabinetry, trim, paneling, and interior woodworking projects.

Surface Preparation
- Ensure surface is clean and free of dirt, dust, grease, oil, water, and wax.
- Remove all previous coatings.
- Sand with 220–320 grit in direction of grain.
- Remove all sanding residue.
- Wipe clean with dry rag or rag lightly dampened with denatured alcohol.
- Allow alcohol to evaporate for 10–15 minutes before applying.
Important Notes:
- Not recommended for non-porous substrates (composites, epoxy, metals, plastics).
- Always test before application.
Application Conditions
- Ideal: 70–80°F and less than 50% humidity
- Can be applied as low as 50°F (longer dry time)
- Above 80°F may cause uneven staining
Application
- Shake or stir thoroughly before use.
- Do not thin.
- Apply a thin, even coat in direction of grain.
- Wipe off excess stain within 1–2 minutes using clean rag.
- Do not allow excess to become tacky.
- One coat typically sufficient; second coat optional after drying.
- Custom colors can be created by blending stain colors.
- Natural color can be used to reduce intensity of other colors.
Application Methods
- Brush, rag, or spray
- Use natural or China bristle brush when brushing
Topcoating
- Must be topcoated (not a standalone finish)
- Do not sand before applying topcoat
- Apply topcoat directly once stain is dry
- Dry time before topcoat:
- 30–45 minutes for solvent-based coatings
- 24 hours for water-based or epoxy coatings
- Do not mix stain into varnish, finishes, or epoxy
Storage
- Store tightly sealed in cool, dry, well-ventilated area
- Keep away from heat, sparks, and ignition sources
- Keep out of reach of children
Shelf Life
- Minimum 1 year under proper storage conditions
