TotalBoat Inflatable Boat Paint is a water-based ablative antifouling paint designed for PVC, Hypalon®, rubber inflatable boats, and properly prepared fiberglass or aluminum. This flexible coating won't crack or flake when rolled up and provides reliable protection against barnacles and marine growth.

Surface Preparation Solvents:
- TotalBoat Dewaxer & Surface Prep (fiberglass)
- TotalBoat Epoxy Primer Thinner 200 (Hypalon®, PVC, rubber)
- Primers: TotalBoat TotalProtect, TotalBoat Aluminum Boat Barrier Coat
- Acceptable Substrates: Hypalon®, PVC, rubber, fiberglass, aluminum (must be primed), and properly prepared previously painted substrates
- Available Colors: Gray
Surface Preparation
Hypalon®, PVC, or Rubber Inflatable Surfaces
- Wash with warm water and mild soap. Dry completely.
- Mask off area to be painted.
- Scrub thoroughly with a bronze wool pad dipped in TotalBoat Epoxy Primer Thinner 200.
- Wipe clean and allow to dry for one hour.
- Apply Inflatable Boat Paint.
Bare Fiberglass or Gelcoat
- Allow substrate to cure 5–7 days.
- Remove wax or amine blush.
- Wash, dry, and dewax using TotalBoat Dewaxer & Surface Prep.
- Sand with 80-grit to a dull finish.
- Clean and allow to dry completely.
Barrier Coat Application:
- Fiberglass: Apply TotalBoat TotalProtect
- Aluminum: Apply TotalBoat Aluminum Boat Barrier Coat
Previously Painted Surfaces
- Only apply to compatible coatings in good condition.
- Not compatible with tin, vinyl, or Teflon® paints.
- Sand and clean using TotalBoat Dewaxer & Surface Prep.
Aluminum
- Cannot be applied directly.
- Must be primed with TotalBoat Aluminum Boat Barrier Coat.
Application Over Barrier Coats
- Apply after barrier coat cures at least 4 hours.
- Thumbprint method is NOT recommended.
Sanding Method
- Wait 24 hours, sand with 80-grit, clean, and apply.
Application Conditions
- 50–90°F and under 90% humidity
- Avoid direct sunlight and moisture
Application Methods
- Apply 1–2 coats per season
- Apply extra coat in high-chafe areas
- Apply at 3.5–4 mils wet film thickness
Dry Time Between Coats
- 1.5 hours @ 90°F
- 3 hours @ 70°F
- 6 hours @ 50°F
Dry Time to Launch
- 6 hours @ 90°F
- 10 hours @ 70°F
- 16 hours @ 50°F
Brushing/Rolling Instructions
- No thinning typically required
- If needed, thin 5–10% with water
- Use chip brushes and 3/16" rollers
Spraying Instructions
- Thin 5–10% with water
- Recommended nozzle size: 1.8–2mm
Maintenance
Check regularly for buildup. Clean with a sponge or soft abrasive pad as needed. Best performance occurs with regular use.
Warning
RAGS, STEEL WOOL, OR WASTE-SOAKED MATERIALS MAY SPONTANEOUSLY CATCH FIRE IF DISCARDED IMPROPERLY.
