Surface Preparation
Bare Steel
- Wire brush or sandblast surface until shiny and clean
- Wipe surface using lint-free cheesecloth, rag, or tack cloth dampened with dewaxing solvent
- Allow solvent to flash completely
- Tape off surrounding areas
Rusted Metal
- Remove dirt, grease, loose paint, and rust flakes using wire brush or sandblaster
- Wipe surface clean using lint-free cloth dampened with dewaxing solvent
- Allow solvent to flash completely
- Tape off surrounding areas
Application
- Apply using brush or spray bottle
- Allow product to dry completely
- As it dries, surface will turn darker to nearly black
- This color change indicates rust has converted to an inert state
- Use wire brush to remove any dried residue
- White, powdery spots may appear and are normal
- Remove white residue with wire brush
- Repeat application if necessary
- Surface will be ready for metal primer
