TotalBoat Wet Edge one-part polyurethane topside paint lets you achieve professional results anywhere above the waterline. This advanced coating dries to a hard, high-gloss or flat finish that resists scratches and stains. Wet Edge won’t crack, lift, or peel. Advanced UV stabilizers ensure long-lasting color and shine. Wet Edge can be brushed, rolled, or sprayed.

Surface Preparation
Fiberglass
- All bare fiberglass substrates must cure for 5–7 days before applying Wet Edge.
- Remove wax or amine blush before preparation.
- Wash with mild soap and water and dry.
- Dewax using TotalBoat Dewaxer & Surface Prep.
- Sand with 220–320 grit sandpaper.
- Remove sanding residue with approved solvent.
Bare Wood
- Wood must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants.
- Ideal moisture content: 6–8% (below 10% acceptable).
- Sand with 220-grit sandpaper.
- Vacuum sanding dust.
- Prime with TotalBoat Topside Primer.
- Sand primer with 220 grit before painting.
- Clean with TotalBoat Brushing Thinner 100.
Previously Painted Surfaces
- Only apply to solvent-compatible coatings.
- Strip surfaces in poor condition.
- Wash with soap and water.
- Sand with 220–320 grit.
- Clean with solvent wipe.
Epoxy Surfaces
- Allow epoxy to cure for 5–7 days.
- Wash with soap and water to remove amine blush.
- Sand with 220–320 grit.
- Clean surface before painting.
Metals
- Wet Edge cannot be applied directly to bare metal.
- Prime with TotalBoat TotalProtect or TotalBoat Aluminum Boat Barrier Coat.
- Allow primer to cure 5–7 days.
- Sand with 220–320 grit.
Application
VERY IMPORTANT – READ BEFORE PAINTING
- Only apply Wet Edge when environmental conditions allow.
- Stir thoroughly before use.
- Do not exceed 3 mils wet film thickness.
- Dry time to touch: 1.5 hrs @ 90°F, 3 hrs @ 70°F, 6 hrs @ 50°F.
- Sand between coats with 220–320 grit.
- Minimum recoat time: 8–16 hours depending on temperature.
- Recommended: 2–3 coats.
- Colors may be blended to create custom colors.
- Flattening agents or non-skid media may be added after testing.
Application Conditions
- Apply between 50–90°F.
- Relative humidity under 85–90%.
- Avoid direct sunlight.
- Avoid rain, dew, or fog during curing.
Application Methods
Brushing / Rolling
- TotalBoat Brushing Thinner 100 improves leveling.
- Below 60°F use TotalBoat Spray Thinner 101.
- Thin 5–10% if necessary.
- Use high-quality solvent-safe brushes and rollers.
- Roll-and-tip method recommended.
Spraying
- Reduce paint 10–20% with TotalBoat Spray Thinner 101.
- Airless: ~2500 PSI.
- Pressure pot: 50–65 PSI.
- Siphon cup: 50–65 PSI.
Yearly Maintenance
Wet Edge can be cleaned with an all-purpose boat soap such as TotalBoat Boat Soap. Annual recoating is not required, though a maintenance coat may be desired after several years if wear or fading occurs.
RAGS, STEEL WOOL, OR WASTE SOAKED WITH THIS PRODUCT MAY SPONTANEOUSLY CATCH FIRE IF DISCARDED IMPROPERLY. IMMEDIATELY AFTER USE, PLACE RAGS, STEEL WOOL, OR WASTE IN A SEALED WATER-FILLED METAL CONTAINER.

Always use proper Personal Protective Equipment when handling this product. Refer to the TotalBoat Wet Edge Safety Data Sheet for more information. Each color has a different composition and SDS. Only apply with proper ventilation.
