The shelf life of TotalBoat Wet Edge is a minimum of 1 year if it has been stored properly. Under most circumstances, Wet Edge will last years if it has been stored properly.
Things to be aware of:
- Wet Edge may skin over in the can. Remove the skin off the surface and thoroughly mix or stir the paint until it is an even consistency. If it is still a usable consistency, then the paint is still good.
- A small number of freeze/thaw cycles are not going to have adverse effects on the paint, however many deep freeze/thaw cycles may start to reduce the performance of the paint. Always store Wet Edge within the specified conditions.
- Rusty cans stored in damp conditions may still have good paint inside, open the lid and check for rust, inside the can. If there is no rust inside the can, the paint should not be affected.
- Small chunks of skinned paint should not be an issue. It is always good practice to strain Wet Edge to remove any particles, regardless if it's new or previously opened paint.
- The heavier solids that make up Wet Edge settle to the bottom of the can when it has been stored, and can form a dense cake of material. This is not an issue and the paint should not be deemed bad just because it has settled. Stir the paint, digging at the bottom of the can, or shake the can vigorously to free up the settled material and reconstitute the paint.
