The amount of resin needed to wet out fiberglass cloth depends on the weight of the cloth.
Fiberglass cloth is rated in ounces per square yard. One gallon of resin will wet out 60 ounces of cloth.
- 4 oz. fiberglass cloth - 1 gallon of resin will wet out 15 square yards
- 6 oz. fiberglass cloth - 1 gallon of resin will wet out 10 square yards
- 10 oz, fiberglass cloth - 1 gallon of resin will wet out 6.5 square yards
Fiberglass chopped strand mat (CSM) is rated in ounces per square foot and requires 2 times its weight in resin for adequate wet out.
- 1.5 oz. CSM will need 3 oz. of resin per square foot of mat.
Fiberglass biaxial cloth is rated in ounces per square yard and requires 3 times its weight in resin.
- 1708 biaxial cloth weighs 17 ounces per square yard and will need 51 ounces of resin per square yard for adequate wet out.
