All stains are different, so we recommend performing a test in a small inconspicuous spot to ensure the TotalBoat Penetrating Epoxy Sealer will properly adhere. Note that Penetrating Epoxy will not penetrate stain that may be filling the grain of the wood.
When performing the test, start with a clean, dry surface and reference the stain manufacturer's application instructions. Before applying Penetrating Epoxy, make sure the stained surface is completely dry. If needed, use a clean, dry, lint-free rag to wipe away any excess stain sitting on the surface, and make sure any solvent on the surface has evaporated.
