The shelf life for TotalBoat ThickSet epoxy after it has been opened is 6-12 months, if it has been stored under proper conditions. Always store TotalBoat ThickSet epoxy between 60-90°F, in a dry place, and ensure that the containers are completely sealed. Avoid storing epoxy products on the floor, or close to walls or doors that may pose a risk of exposing the epoxy to lower temperatures.
Crystallization can occur in epoxy resin or hardener that becomes contaminated with moisture or dust, or that is exposed to lower temperatures than specified for an extended period of time. If the resin and/or hardener shows any sign of crystallization, don't use it until it has been liquefied, or returned to its original liquid state. To do this, place the closed container in a warm water bath and heat the material to 140°F-150°F. Stir the product, as needed, to help bring all of the material up to temperature. Maintain this temperature until all the crystals are gone and the material has returned to its liquid form.
