Depending on the resin and hardener you're using, the mixed epoxy color can be either clear or a light amber. The latter is not a problem if you're painting over it, but if you want to make the epoxy a custom color, there are a lot of ways to do it. Just be sure to mix the resin and hardener thoroughly before adding any coloring agent.
The best epoxy pigments and coloring agents will completely integrate with the epoxy resin, without adversely affecting the cure. Be sure to check the epoxy manufacturer's instructions for the maximum percentage of colorant to add to the mixed epoxy resin by volume. Because the curing process for epoxy depends on strict mix ratios, always test your colored mixture to make sure it cures properly before using it on your actual project.
