Thinning TotalBoat TableTop Epoxy for better penetration into a substrate, or to improve the flow is not advised. Thinning TotalBoat TableTop may compromise the cured properties, or cosmetic qualities of the product.
It is strongly recommended to ensure that TotalBoat TableTop Epoxy is mixed and applied under the specified environmental conditions to provide better flow. When applying TotalBoat TableTop Epoxy at temperatures near the cool end of the acceptable application conditions, it may be desired to warm the product in the bottles prior to pouring and mixing. This can be done by putting the bottles in a warm water bath (of 80-90°F) prior to dispensing. Avoid heating the product over 90°F, as the product's working time can be greatly reduced, and apply multiple small batches, as opposed to fewer large ones.
To optimize the self-leveling properties of TotalBoat TableTop Epoxy, a heat gun can be lightly waved over the epoxy after it has been poured, for a few seconds at a time. Keep the heat gun moving to avoid burning the epoxy or the substrate. Only use the heat gun enough to help level the surface, but avoid overheating the epoxy.
