The first step to cleaning out or flushing TotalBoat Metering Pumps is to pump any remaining resin or hardener from the reservoirs. Denatured alcohol can be used to clean the inside of the reservoirs, but it should not be necessary to run the alcohol through the pump. Denatured alcohol can also be used to clean out the spouts, if needed, by removing them and soaking them in denatured alcohol. The pump can also be disassembled and cleaned in the same fashion, then reassembled, though this is usually not necessary, even if changing between epoxy systems.
Once the reservoirs are cleaned, refill the reservoirs and prime the pumps. If there is a different resin/hardener being used, always ensure that the mix ratio on the pump is correct before use.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The pumps described in this article are the large MakerPoxy (1:1) and High Performance 2:1 Epoxy metering pumps with reservoirs. These large epoxy pumps are currently available only on the TotalBoat website.
