The concentration of TotalBoat Pigment Dispersion that can be used depends on the material it's being added to. Use caution when adding Pigment Dispersion, it is a very potent coloring agent. Always start with a small amount and add more, as necessary.
- The absolute maximum percentage of Pigment Dispersion that can be added to epoxy is 10%. Depending on the thickness of the epoxy and which epoxy is being used, adding only 1% Pigment Dispersion may achieve full opacity.
- The maximum percentage of Pigment Dispersion that can be added to TotalBoat Gelcoat and Polyester Resin products is 10% (up to 12% for red, yellow, and orange to achieve the boldest colors). Adding higher levels of pigment to polyester finishing resin or laminating resin may reduce the cured performance of the resin.
To ensure the desired results are achieved, it is strongly recommended to perform a small test sample prior to attempting the final project.
Always ensure that when TotalBoat Pigment Dispersion is added to epoxy that both the resin and hardener have already been completely mixed together prior to adding the Pigment Dispersion. When Pigment Dispersion is being added to gelcoat or another polyester resin-based material, add the Pigment Dispersion prior to catalyzing the resin.
