Can TotalBoat Thixo be used to bond ipe hardwood?

TotalBoat Thixo makes a great adhesive for bonding ipe wood. Thixo, Thixo Pro, Thixo Fast Cure, Thixo Flex, and Thixo Wood can all be used to bond ipe. The addition of mechanical fasteners is recommended for applications with high loads, dynamic stresses, or structural applications.

To promote the best bond, the joints that are to be adhered together should be sanded with a coarse sandpaper such as 40-grit to 80-grit, and solvent wiped with acetone before bonding. Only use a clean, cotton rag to wipe the surface with acetone, as synthetic rags may leave a residue behind that could compromise the bond. The acetone must be completely evaporated prior to applying Thixo. When clamping the glued pieces together, take extra care not to over-clamp the joint, which will squeeze all of the epoxy out.
