Can TotalBoat TotalProtect be applied over coal tar epoxy?

The application of TotalBoat TotalProtect over coal tar epoxy is not recommended, and generally not required. If the coal tar epoxy is no longer viable, applying an epoxy barrier coat such as TotalProtect over it, is not likely to fix the problem. Older coal tar epoxy may also be more difficult for the TotalProtect to bond to. Coal tar epoxy that is no longer serviceable should be removed via blasting, and a new suitable coating should be applied, as directed.
