Can denatured alcohol be used as a surface prep solvent for TotalBoat Inflatable Boat Paint?

It is recommended to use TotalBoat Epoxy Primer Thinner 200 as a solvent wipe directly before applying TotalBoat Inflatable Boat Bottom Paint because it cleans, dewaxes, and dulls the surface, preparing the inflatable material chemically to receive paint easier and have much better adhesion***.  Denatured alcohol is safe for all inflatable boat materials and will help to clean the surface, but will not chemically dull the material to improve adhesion when the paint is applied. Always ensure that any solvent wipe materials have completely evaporated prior to applying any paint.

*** Do not leave TotalBoat Epoxy Primer Thinner 200 on any inflatable or fiberglass surfaces for an extended period. Only use this solvent wipe on areas that are going to be painted. ALWAYS mask off any areas that are not going to be painted or wiped with this solvent. Always wipe on with a rag, then follow with a clean cotton rag, taking care to prevent any drips. Do not use any rags made of synthetic materials with Epoxy Primer Thinner 200. Do not allow drips of the solvent to fall on areas that are not being painted, as it will change the texture of the surface.
