TotalBoat Halcyon can be applied over any completely cured and prepared marine spar varnishes, that are in good condition, including TotalBoat Lust, TotalBoat Gleam 2.0, Epifanes Clear Gloss Varnish, Pettit Captain's and Flagship varnishes, and more.
If the condition of the previous varnish is bubbling, flaking, or otherwise poor, it should be removed completely. Any previous marine varnishes should be completely cured for at least 48 hours under normal conditions, and sanded in the direction of the grain using 320-grit sandpaper. Remove any sanding residue and wipe the surface with a clean, lint-free rag dampened with denatured alcohol. Any remaining alcohol must be evaporated completely prior to applying Halcyon.
IMPORTANT: TotalBoat Halcyon should never be applied over Sikkens Cetol, or TotalBoat Marine Wood Finish products.
