JD Homemade Varnish Recipe: An Old Down East Deck Coating Formula
This durable varnish has an amber finish. Use it on wooden decks on schooners, fishing boats, and porches. To customize the mixture, add more pine tar for a darker color, or add less for a lighter color. For the darker mixture, allow more drying time.
This recipe covers approximately 100 square feet.
- 1 quart turpentine
- 1 quart boiled linseed oil
- 1/2 pint of pine tar
- 1/2 pint of Japan Drier
