Can TotalBoat Gleam 2.0 be applied over Minwax® stain?

TotalBoat Gleam 2.0 can generally be applied over most stain products that are available on the market, but the Minwax® brand stain products have given some difficulties achieving proper adhesion when applying Gleam 2.0 to it. The Minwax brand varnishes and wood finish products are designed to work as a complete system with their own products.
